Is My Bible (Translation) Any Good?
All translations mislead in one way or another. Moving information (translating) from one culture to another, especially two to three thousand years apart, is a herculean effort. Thinking that we can read our Bibles the same way we read our newspapers leads to a multitude of sins. In addition, translators have theological biases, denominational loyalties, and levels of skill. Then there is the abundance of translations to choose from all stemming from different models. What’s a serious student of Scripture to do? This video sorts out these issues and develops an approach to reading the Bible that lessens the impact of these problems.
