Episode 2

How Our of View of God Shapes Our Life

This week’s episode asks how our view of God determines how we live in our world. The traditional views of Omnipotence, Omniscience, and Omnipresence are examined and found inadequate. Dr. Epperly suggests ways that we can see them differently and more personally.  Enjoy!

  1. Thank you both for your clear way of “making contact”! I am enjoying your thought provoking comments and am looking forward to exploring the idea of how prayer fits into the context of “the 3 O’s”!

  2. Abortion is a current ‘hot topic.’ If everything is ‘good,’ that would certainly include a fetus at any stage of development. At what point does a woman’s choice to end this life supersede this beauty of creation? Is there a contradiction when a woman makes the choice to abort?

    1. Bruce did say that God is as concerned about the human fetus as God is about the “no-see-ums” that plague Cape Cod beaches. This is because God is as present in one as in the other. Of course, the question of abortion is much larger than “If God is in everything, then everything is sacred and therefore inviolable.” This would make it impossible to build a fire to cook food, or even eat what we cook. For questions regarding the fetus or any other object in creation, the issue becomes what is the best use that honors the God within? This question must be at the forefront of every decision we make. The human body itself is the cause of up to half of spontaneous abortions (miscarriages). It seems to know, at least biologically speaking, the best use of a given fetus. The other questions of best use should be left up to the women in question, IMHO.

    2. Thanks, Cliff, for your thoughts – some week we will cover abortion – it is a challenge to balance the rights of fetus, mother, father, and community as well as our responsibilities to one another and the greater good….
